Advocate For Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a small private practice in Norfolk, Virginia that is currently offering telehealth services for ages 5 and up. We are growing and expanding to accommodate a welcome demand for mental health services offering individual and family sessions.

Job Summary: The Therapist is responsible for providing mental health assessment, treatment planning, and counseling intervention services, as well as continually monitoring and documenting patient progress and outcomes. Responsible for providing outpatient counseling services to individuals and their families. Responsible for intakes, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning, individual and family counseling, and family support services. Chart progress, maintains clinical records, and ensures implementation of treatment and discharge plans. Provides telehealth services to patients. Utilize clinically approved modalities, including but not limited to the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused, Brief Solution, and Focused therapies in accordance with their training and certifications.

Job Responsibilities:

-Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine individuals' mental health needs

-Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on individuals' goals and needs

-Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and behavioral therapy

- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to promote positive behavior change

-Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for individuals

-Deliver psychoeducation to individuals, providing information regarding mental health, emotional disorders, or behavioral health

-Participate in staffing, case conferences, and other meetings

-Regularly meet with individuals for therapy sessions

-Facilitate human development and adjustment; assess and facilitate career development; treat interpersonal relationship issues and nervous, mental, and emotional disorders that are cognitive, affective, or behavioral, and manage symptoms of mental illness

-Provide outreach and follow-up of services.

-Ensure the development and implementation of transition, discharge and aftercare plans prior to discontinuation of behavioral health services

-Maintain the individual's comprehensive clinical record, including documentation of activities performed as part of the service delivery process (E.G., Assessments, provisions of service, coordination of care, discharge planning).

-Provide continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment through the ongoing assessment of the individual and input from the individual and relevant others resulting in modification to the service plan, as necessary

-Experience in working with adults and/or children who have a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

-Maintain a full and unrestricted license in good standing in Virginia as a Licensed Mental Health Professional/Supervisee/Resident

-Exhibit skills necessary to ensure a successful therapeutic relationship with individuals such as organization skills, quick and enthusiastic learner, excellent communicator, receptive to feedback, excellent time management

Skills:

- Valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) in Virginia

- Knowledgable and experience of cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques

- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and its integration into treatment plans

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client engagement

- Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards

- Knowledge of coding procedures for medical billing purposes: preferred, not required

- Understanding of mental and behavioral health principles and practices

- At least a year of experience working in the position of an outpatient therapist
