The VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS) is part of VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21), which includes facilities in California, Nevada and Hawaii. VAPAHCS is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research, Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. The Research and Development Service excels as a leader in the Department of Veterans Affairs. The opportunity exists to serve as a Part-Time Dermatologist for Livermore CBOC for 10 hours/week. Work with a dynamic, collaborative, and engaged local team to manage high quality & efficient health care on site! Schedule will be determined by supervisor.
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for evaluating and managing eligible patients in the Dermatology clinic. Provides extensive expertise in the treatment of various dermatologic conditions. Practices safety, environmental and infection control methods.
- Responsible for evaluating and advising primary physicians on inpatients hospitalized at the Palo Alto VA for which consults are requested. This will include evaluation and care for patients in the emergency room, medical and surgical services, and from other inpatient services. Incumbent provides patient care, teaching and research functions at VAPAHCS. Responsible for the support of programs in all these critical areas. Responsible for establishing and maintain high standards of excellence in all area and meeting performance goals.
