The Practice Health & Safety RN Assessor organizes and directs the activities of the Practice Health & Safety Assessments, as a field assessor, remediation coordinator and subject matter expert on clinical compliance and regulatory standards; coordinates team members to ensure that effective clinical services are provided, and quality standards are met. Responsible for assessing the Optum Ambulatory Practices to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies as well as Optum policies and procedures. Works with the Clinical Educators in the development and updating of operational protocols, ensures compliance with organizational policy and procedures. Services as the educator/trainer for team members and newly hired RN Assessors to engage in best practices. Shall be responsible for preparation of data, and information and/or reports through use of computer applications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
- Conducts Practice Health & Safety Assessments
- Ensures complete and accurate documentation of assessments and corrective action plans
- Coordinates with practice team members on remediation activities surrounding identified opportunities for improvement, from initiation through completion
- Works collaboratively with Clinical Education and Operations Integration Departments to assure all aspects of acquisition, remediation, and compliance is completed
- Provides subject matter expertise and guidance regarding patient safety
- Acts as communication mechanism between levels of team members on all pertinent issues both within and outside area of responsibility where appropriate
- Screens all information prior to submission for accuracy and integrity, routing appropriately when incomplete, using approved criteria and guidelines
- Works collaboratively with other site nurse managers/site directors for practice health and safety issues organization wide
- Proactively identifies support opportunities surrounding health and safety, clinical compliance and quality improvement
- Conducts new team member orientation and clinic training orientation
- Local travel in Albuquerque Metro Area
- Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Nursing or related health care field
- Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
- NM RN license
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
- 5+ years working as a practicing Registered Nurse in either an acute care or ambulatory care setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree as stated above with emphasis or additional course work in management
- Experience training in medical facilities
- Experience with a clinical information system

- Computer literate
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Solid organizational and leadership abilities
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient thorough and prioritize manner
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses solid interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in standard English to team members from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to transfer knowledge to clients with diverse cultural backgrounds, educational experiences and learning styles
- Possesses ability to effectively define expectations and educate and support all levels of clinical team members (medical assistants and nurses) and clinic management (supervisor and managers) with consistent training
- Ability to present training material to individuals and both small and large groups
- Ability to administer training via teleconferences, in person or utilizing web casts
- Customer service-oriented
- Possesses excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain good judgment and accountability
- Exhibits solid organizational and time management skills
- Ability to demonstrate solid presentation skills
- Valid California driver’s license, insurance and vehicle for work-related travel
The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
