Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will be responsible for accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing, and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician's authorization. The CMA is responsible for providing exemplary customer service and consistently practicing CMC's core values of excellence, compassion, healing, teamwork, stewardship, innovation, and integrity.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years prior clinical experience working in a physician office setting required, five (5) years preferred, or at least 160 hours of clinical training that can be verified.
- Knowledge of standard medical office practices and procedures required.
- Knowledge of current referral sources/authorization processes preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through an accredited agency required.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
- Accompany patients into exam rooms and prepare patients for exams.
- Perform and document vital signs, assist with procedures, prepare and administer medications with physician's authorization.
- Reinforce patient education with regards to office policies, medications, and transitional care of patients.
- At times may retrieve lab and x-ray reports, propose medication refills, return telephone and electronic patient messages, obtain referrals and authorizations, and complete medical forms.
- May be asked to assist with other office responsibilities, such as answering office phones, scheduling appointments, filing, ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, etc.
- Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
- Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
- Regularly exercise independent judgment.
- Remain calm and professional in all situations.
Working Conditions:
