Position: Speech Language Pathologist

High Needs Position Sign-on Bonus: Christina School District is offering a hiring and retention bonus of $3,000, paid in two installments - $1500 upon hire and $1500 after six months. The candidate must be fully certified in their content area. These payments are subject to mandatory withholdings.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Delaware
- Completion of Master's degree program in the area of Speech and Language Pathology
- ASHA (American Speech/Language & Hearing Association) certified or working toward ASHA certification during Clinical Fellowship Year
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.

Responsibilities:
- Plan for and deliver speech and language therapy through group and/or individual sessions for students that may include assistive technology, augmentative communication, social language development, articulation, voice, oral motor, receptive and expressive language.
- Perform appropriate diagnostic and evaluative testing.
- Present well-constructed, thorough, reports related to completed assessments and observations of students.
- Responsible for the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related documentation for speech and language services.
- Make recommendations for the level and frequency of services as related to the areas of need in the IEP.
- Maintain adequate records of treatment and data of the IEP objectives for the students being served.
- Interprets students' special speech and language needs to principals, teachers and parents when necessary, and when possible, provides special materials and coaching to teachers and families to help provide speech language supports in classroom and home settings.
- Collaborates professionally with all student team members including classroom teacher, school psychologist, behavior analyst, occupational therapist, physical therapist, music therapist, school counselor, principal, vocational specialist and parents.
- Opportunities for specialized caseloads including students with educational classification of Autism or other complex communication needs, and students with feeding needs
- Work with and assist other team members with providing necessary carry-over of strategies and skills into all other areas of the students' learning opportunities.
- Prepares reports and information as prescribed by Christina School District, the Department of Education and the Cost Recovery office.
- Maintains a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel.
- Refers students to and confers with community resources as required.
