LOCATION: Lancaster General Health Main Hospital and Women's and Babies Hospital
SCHEDULE: Primarily Monday through Friday, day shift with occasional evenings and weekends.
Summary:
The Surgical Technologist Education Program Coordinator is an experienced surgical technologist who functions as a clinical leader at a high level of performance related to surgical technologist education, professional development, evidence-based practice, mentoring, and coaching. The Surgical Technologist Education Program Coordinator oversees surgical and procedural technologist role development, educational preparation, competency management, orientation, and translation of the best evidence into clinical practice in support of achieving safe, quality patient care. The Surgical Technologist Education Coordinator (a) provides instruction, supervision, and timely assessment of student progress of those enrolled in the Surgical Technologist in Training (STT) program (b) serves as the immediate liaison of student progress at the individual entity level to the perioperative leadership and education team (c) partners with colleagues across the system to ensure continuity of STT program and provides regular re-assessment of program needs. The Surgical Technologist Education Program Coordinator will routinely scrub surgical cases to maintain competency and relevance in the field of surgical technology. The Surgical Technologist Education Program Coordinator may also double scrub with STT participants to monitor clinical progress. The Surgical Technologist Education Coordinator will coordinate STT program enrollment and facilitate allocation of program resources including personnel, learning schedule classroom space and supplemental supplies for educational purposes. To ensure stability of STT program curriculum, the Surgical Technologist Education Coordinator will provide administration, organization ad supervision of the STT program including curriculum and skills content and delivery. In collaboration with entity leadership and Talent Acquisition, the Surgical Technologist Education Coordinator will facilitate surgical technologist recruitment events and support initiatives which increase pipelines for qualified candidates.

- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- 10+ years Working as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting
2+ years Teaching or precepting experience
- Associate of Arts or Science
