Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for a part-time contract role in a school-based setting in Waltham, MA. This position offers a wonderful opportunity to make a significant impact on students, especially those with special needs, while meeting all local and state regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' occupational therapy needs and establish personalized therapy goals.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and other functional skills essential for success in school and daily life.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students' needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure goals are being met.
- Assist students in improving their daily living skills and increasing independence in various environments.
- Train school staff and parents on techniques and strategies to support students' therapy goals both in the classroom and at home.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school district and state regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Experience working with special education students and families is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and the special education process.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to student success and development.
