Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Lead Phlebotomist you will support the Supervisor in the coordination of the day to day operation of the phlebotomy section.
Responsibilities:
- Blood procurement from all age groups, registration and order entry.
- Assists in the laboratory with specimen processing of in house tests and referral specimens
- Oversee referral specimens sent out by other staff to ensure accuracy
- Review inventory in the laboratory POU room and orders supplies
- Monitor inventories and orders supplies required to process referral specimens
- Monitor the pending lists to ensure that all collections are drawn in a timely manner on all shifts
- Assist in training and orientation of new lab assistants in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A completed high school diploma or GED
- A vocational/technical diploma
- A phlebotomy certificate is beneficial
- 1-3 years of previous experience in clinical laboratory setting
- The ability to frequently stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, move and lift patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
