A nonprofit organization in New York City is looking to add a new, licensedSpeech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join one of their schools throughout the 5 boroughs. In this role, theSpeech Language Pathologist (SLP)will be responsible for providing speech and language services to individuals pursuant to the Individualized Family, Service or Education Plan (IFSP, IEP, ISP).
Responsibilities:
TheSpeech Language Pathologist (SLP)will:
- Conduct various tests to evaluate speech and language status of consumer
- Planand conductspeech language interventions, therapies and treatments
- Implementtesting procedures to evaluate and monitor participant progress following stated treatment period as required by appropriate regulatory agency
- Assessoral motor development and ability to intake food orally and developa treatment plan appropriate to identified disabilities, subject to professional licensure requirements established by respective funding source
- Keep current in latest alternative communication techniques and implementappropriate techniques subject to agreement of necessary parties
- Maintaindaily and monthly attendance records and progress notes
- Providetherapy progress reports to parents/guardians or appropriate treatment team members
- Ensureindividuals receive services appropriate to their needs and consistent with regulatory requirements
- Ensureparents, guardians and other individuals with responsibility for individuals care and treatment are kept informed and up to date about individuals progress
- Completeall required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Providesupervision to students and CFYs as needed
- Performother duties, as needed
Qualifications:- Master's Degree in Speech Therapy
- NYSSpeech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
- Computer savvy
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:- 1+ year of Speech Therapy experience
- Knowledge of Picture Exchange Communication and manual sign language
