Job Description for the RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. The RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager.
Job Requirements for the RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a CAAHEP approved RT Program or military equivalent.
Experience for the RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
Previous hospital Respiratory Care experience is desirable but not required.
Licenses/Certificates for the RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
Current Oklahoma Respiratory Care License (CRT-RRT).
CPR required.
ACLS required within 6 months.
NRP required within 6 months.
PALS preferred but not required.
