The Mental Health Counselor & Coordinator will provide counseling to Scholars on an as-needed basis and will form relationships and partnerships with external providers and higher education mental health systems to ensure that Scholars are able to access a full-spectrum of mental health support. Responsibilities: Counseling Provide and document (in a confidential database) one-on-one therapeutic counseling to Generation Hope Scholars dealing with mental health challenges who are not able to access therapeutic counseling through other resourcesImplement mental health screenings for Scholars concerned about their mental healthMake referrals to other organizations as available and neededMonitor and facilitate the non-crisis mental health text line 3 evenings per weekPartnership Building Research the mental health support available at local colleges and universities and form relationships with their counselors to ensure that referred Scholars are able to receive optimal support Form pro-bono partnerships with organizations and individuals that provide mental health care Facilitation Assist in providing staff training on mental health issues Assist in the facilitation of workshops and therapeutic groups for Scholars, their children, and Sponsors (i.e. mentors)Other Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societiesCreate graphics and content for monthly wellness newsletter, etc.Send out email blasts and mass text messages about mental health programming to Generation Hope ScholarsCreate mental health social media contentOther duties as assigned
