DEPARTMENT:Physical Therapy
SHIFT: 8 Hour Shifts
POSITION SUMMARY
Evaluates, plans, directs and administers medically prescribed speech/language pathology programs in the hospital and outpatient settings to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patient to reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Performs administrative duties and participates in department performance improvement, infection control, safety and education programs. The staff Speech and Language Pathologist may be assigned to orient staff and students and assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Exhibit professionalism in the Department as it relates to patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff members.
- Age related competencies: demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) REQUIRED:
- Graduate of Speech-language Pathology and Audiology Board training program with current California SLP License REQUIRED
- BLS Certification within 3 months of hire
Education Preferred:
- Masters level education or above
Minimum Experience REQUIRED:
- Exposure to acute care, skilled nursing facility, outpatient, and/or subacute care settings
Experience Preferred:
- 2 year experience
- May consider a new Graduate/license applicant
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Computer literacy EMR.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
- Must be able to withstand stressful situations.
