The Psychiatric Social Worker II provides clinical care to children, adolescents, adults, and families, including evaluation, treatment planning, and treatment of mental health conditions under supervision of a board-authorized supervisor and provides services utilizing evidence-based/informed treatment models that are best suited to the needs of the patient/family. The incumbent coordinates care with multi-disciplinary teams focused on the strengths and effective treatment individualized for the patient and family, and may be involved in training activities, outreach, and research as a member of interdisciplinary programs and the department.
Responsibilities
1.Provides high quality diagnostic and initial evaluations for patients and families referred to the Psychiatric Mental Health Program (PMHP)in consultation with the assigned Board authorized supervisor.
2.Engages in treatment planning and delivery in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members involved in care.
3.Provides evidence based/informed mental health treatment focused on goals and measurement of outcomes in consultation with the assigned Board authorized supervisor.
4.Utilizes supervision, interdisciplinary consultation, independent study, and training activities to ensure on-going refinement of skills in case conceptualization, evidence based/informed models, clinical techniques and remains current on relevant literature.
5.Provides timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record according to professional, departmental and Institute standards while maintaining billing and productivity standards(as established by the department).
6.Serveson committees and participatesin training, outreach, special projects, and research activities, asassigned.
7.Participates in implementation and monitoring of performance improvement/performance evaluation and quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
•Must possess and maintain aMaster of Social Work(LMSW) licenseissued by theMaryland State Department of Healthand Mental HygieneBoard of Social Work Examiners.
•Musthavereceivedadditional training in evidence-based/informed models of care as driven by the current needs of the patient population served in the department/program.
EDUCATION:
•Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Workrequired.
•Academic and/or internship focus on counseling, mental health treatment, or mental health crisis management is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Clinical experience through internships or job placements in the provision Social Work services required, preferably for children, adolescents and young adults with developmental, learning and/or emotional disabilities.
