Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, the Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples using venipuncture or skin techniques and obtaining other specimens for ordered diagnostic studies. Performs clerical functions such as charting and filing reports.
- Administrative Competencies Performs required charting rounds for laboratory services.
- Deliver reports to designated location.
- Maintains the computer terminal and the laboratory computer label printers.
- Prints outstanding reports regularly during the shift and at the end of each shift.
- Determines if a specimen was missed and arranges for the drawing of the specimen.
- Performs and reports any assigned Point of Care Testing processes.
- Prints outpatient reports and mails or delivers to physician offices. Knowledgeable of computer functions and able to add or cancel a test.
- Is able to find specimen requirements or send-out information in the system. Proficient in processing send-out specimens.
What qualifications you will need:
- High school graduate.
- Previous experience as a phlebotomist.
