LOCATION: Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA
SCHEDULE: Part time (24 hours per week/.6 FTE). Hours are between 10:30pm-6:30am, varied days, weekend and holiday rotation included with regular schedule.

- Position Summary:
- Performs advanced radiology or cardiovascular patient care activities and procedures for patients of varying ages under the indirect supervision of a registered technologist sonographer and completes all associated tasks and responsibilities necessary to manage patient care needs while patient is in areas such as Diagnostic Imaging or Heart and Vascular HVI for procedures. Assists in the development and the monitoring of department specific systems and in the coordination of activities that improve the quality of patient care.

- Environment Management -
- Completes cleaning tasks utilizing OSHA standards. Performs maintenance and or inventory of equipment according to unit department standards.
- Practices standard precautions while handling contaminated items.
- Maintains unit order and efficiency.
- Maintains appearance of patient care areas and public areas.
- Responsible for adhering to all radiation safety regulations as established by regulatory agencies.
- Orders and stocks supplies to meet the needs of the unit department
- Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock to eliminate outdated items.
- Maintains a sterile environment.
- Patient Care and Safety -
- Provides basic comfort, support and addresses safety needs of patients.
- Accepts verbal and or written assignments from registered technologist and seeks clarification and or assistance as necessary.
- Demonstrates proper responses to emergency situations.
- Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs other paper work as applicable.
- Greets patients, confirms their identification, performing the correct procedures as directed. Completely explains the procedure to the patient and family if present as directed.
- Performs visual preventative safety inspections. Completes warm-up procedures for each room equipment as assigned. Records quality control activities. Reports equipment conditions to Quality Control Materials Manager or appropriate personnel.
- Follows through on assignments to completion and or communicates to other staff members issues related to continuity of care.
- Clinical Skills -
- Performs duty job with appropriate level of independence, accuracy and efficiency
- Demonstrates computer skills necessary to perform unit department specific responsibilities
- Schedules patients and demonstrates proper phone etiquette. Maintains necessary inventory supplies for assigned workstation, rotating stock to eliminate outdated items.
- Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a technologist assistant as applicable to the assigned department .
- Provides patient care procedures as outlined in the competencies appropriate to the assigned department under the direction of registered technologist sonographer.
- Demonstrates skills to properly manipulate all respective fixed or mobile equipment conducive to providing for a safe environment for patients and employees.
- Assists in procedures to include but not limited to patient positioning, maneuvering of equipment, assisting in administering contrast, prepare room for procedure, documentation during procedures and scrub utilizing sterile techniques.
- The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
- Performs advanced patient care including but not limited to venipuncture and or IV starts as directed based on departmental needs. Discontinue lines as needed.
- As applicable, assists radiologist in performing biopsies and limited imaging as needed.
- Transport patients with a registered technologist.
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Minimum Required Qualifications:
- HS diploma or equivalent GED .
- Completion of the educational requirements additional formal education training; maximum supervision for initial competency; high degree associated risk factors; yearly competency evaluation and training.
- As applicable to the assigned department, ACLS CPR.
